Security has been tightened for former NCP MLA Zeeshan Siddique after he received multiple email threats allegedly from the notorious underworld group, ‘D-Company.’ Bandra police have deployed six additional officers at his Bandra residence, providing 24/7 protection starting Tuesday.
The threats were sent over three consecutive days—from Saturday night to Monday evening—via email. According to police, the sender used a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to mask their identity. The emails demanded ₹10 crore in extortion money and warned of fatal consequences if the demand was not met.
Siddique, who already had Y-level security, requested enhanced protection for his family. In response, police assigned two senior officers and four constables in rotating shifts to guard his residence.
An FIR has been registered under Sections 308 (extortion) and 351 (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Police are working closely with the cybercrime unit to trace the origin of the emails.
“This is the first time we’ve received a threat from ‘D-Company’ through email,” a senior police official said. “Even if it turns out to be a hoax, we are treating it with utmost seriousness. We are currently trying to trace the IP address used to send the emails.”
According to investigators, the first message demanded ₹10 crore, and the next two emails repeated the same threat. Siddique stated he only became aware of the emails on Monday when he noticed a reminder alert, as he had not checked his inbox over the weekend.
This incident comes just months after a violent attack involving his father, former minister Baba Siddique, who was shot at by three assailants outside Zeeshan’s office in Bandra East on October 12 last year.
